In order for maximum productivity to be achieved in busy warehouse environments, it is important for managers and supervisors to effectively manage the assignment of tasks. With sales order picks, replenishments, general checks and more needing to be carried out on a regular basis, businesses need to ensure that activities are evenly spread across the entire available work force. However for manufacturers, also managing the assignment of works order picks is an extra consideration that needs to be taken into account.
In many cases, warehouse staff tasked with picking components for builds will also be assigned to pick orders for Despatch. Therefore when it comes to handing out picks, businesses will want to ensure they can analyse all aspects of a picker’s workload before assigning them with further tasks. This ensures staff safety isn’t compromised by overworking, resources are cost-effectively managed and warehouse productivity is always fully maximised.
In version 10.1 of OrderWise, new development has now been added to OrderWise Manufacturing to enable users to manage the workload of their pickers more effectively. Although within OrderWise users already have the ability to view a picker’s work rate analysis when assigning picks, this new enhancement sees works order picks now also included in these statistics.
The benefit of this is that now when assigning picks in Despatch or Manufacturing, the statistics displayed on the pick assign form will take into account the total number of sales and works order picks to provide a clear indication of the picker’s workload. The number of pick lines from both sales order picks and works order picks are also amalgamated on the form.
With the addition of this simple but useful new enhancement, OrderWise Manufacturers can now assign picks with the reassurance that the picker work rate analysis being displayed is a true reflection of their entire workload, allowing warehouse staff resources to be effectively managed.
