As 2017 draws to a close, we thought we’d take a look back at what has been another exciting year of achievements. As we progressively move forward, our software has continued to improve with £1.5m invested in development, demonstrating our commitment to keeping OrderWise up-to-date with all the latest technological advances and industry innovations. In fact this year alone we haveseen over 650 items of development added to our ever-evolving OrderWise software, including our online B2B trade portal, a number of substantial new modules, a wide range of new features, additions to our mobile functionality and plenty of general enhancements. Each one of these additions has been specifically designed to improve existing functionality and help our customers to increase the accuracy, efficiency and productivity of all their daily business processes and warehouse operations.
Outside of the software, 2017 has also been packed with a number of monumental moments for OrderWise as a company too, including plenty of award success, the arrival of over 40 more staff to strengthen our internal resources and the big move into our £1.3m building expansion, which also houses our new and improved larger warehouse training facility.

Another major development to OrderWise this year has been the introduction of the new feature-rich OrderWise Trade Portal, which offers a simple, stress-free solution for managing online B2B sales. In February we launched our intuitive BI Alerts module which enables businesses to address important sales activity as and when it arises. The module can be set to send automated alerts directly to your email based on your own customised rules to indicate a predefined event, issue or condition. By using this invaluable new functionality, users are not only able to gain unparalleled insight into areas of importance within their business but can also instantly capture and act upon notifications for maximum sales opportunities. 2017 also saw the launch of the OrderWise Marketing module which allows businesses to quickly create contact lists and automate the set up and management of subsequent marketing campaigns. The module not only unites the processes of passing data between your back end OrderWise system and chosen marketing platform, but also revolutionises the way contacts are targeted and segmented. With integration to both MailChimp and CommuniGator, users can now seamlessly set up and run their marketing campaigns to selected contacts from directly within OrderWise. The dynamic module also effortlessly binds with the OrderWise CRM, Business Intelligence and BI Alerts modules, and combining the power of these modules creates a comprehensive suite of sales and marketing software to ensure sales opportunities are maximised and managed effectively. July saw the launch of our new Store EPOS system which provides businesses with the ideal combination of up-to-the-minute technology, reliability and efficiency. OrderWise Store EPOS provides an exciting, easy-to-use interface offering the ability to manage store by store, control tills, users, stock locations and payment methods for each individual premises. Having an EPOS system integrated with your main OrderWise system increases visibility, reduces errors and speeds up daily transactions, allowing for optimum customer service and greater customer satisfaction. The system also caters for a Click & Collect service, a range of delivery options, emailed receipts, easy returns and gift card sales, all of which can help businesses deliver a great customer experience, which can improve loyalty and increase sales. Also in July, our new Delivery Rules feature arrived to the OrderWise Despatch module to help businesses further streamline warehouse and despatch operations. The feature allows for the optimum delivery method to be used for every order based on a simple set of rules set within OrderWise. This reduces manual interaction and errors and ensures accurate, cost-effective delivery methods are used every time, allowing businesses to obtain maximum efficiency throughout their despatch processes. Android App Enhancements
2017 also saw a number of enhancements made to our intuitive OrderWise For Android App. Firstly, Business Intelligence was made available to the App, providing detailed business insights to on-the-road staff and allowing for key information to aid the sales process whilst on the move. Also, as previously mentioned, the new BI Alerts module was added to the App’s range of functionality together with BI Snapshots to allow key business intelligence data to be viewed offline when needed. Further adding to the visibility provided by the App, this year also saw customer buying lists and variant images become available together with fuller pricing information, improved searching by items recently sold and the ability to customise the App with your company’s colours and logo. Other notable developments this year include our Transport Management module which helps businesses manage their transport, routing and delivery processes where they are operating despatch through their own fleet of vehicles. 2017 also saw the launch of our 3PL Portal which improves communication and customer service levels for businesses handling third party fulfilment and the OrderWise websites Manpacking feature for fast, streamlined order management of multiple items commonly bought together such as work wear. A Multi-Award Winning Year!
Building on our achievements in 2016, the last twelve months have been another year of great award success for OrderWise, with recognition for the company, our product and our staff at local, regional and national level.
Locally, our Managing Director David Hallam scooped the Business Person of the Year Award at the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards, whilst the company itself was runner up in the Education, Training & Skills category. More local award success came with Implementation Team Supervisor Greg Downey winning the Rising Star Award at the Lincolnshire Digital & Tech Awards, whilst OrderWise was runner up in both the Business of the Year and Product of the Year categories.
At regional level, OrderWise took the top prize of Family Business of the Year at the Midlands Family Business of the Year awards, while also being named runners up in the People’s Choice category which was voted for by the public.
Lastly, OrderWise gained recognition at a national level, highlighting the growth of the business and the impact our software is having on businesses across the country. OrderWise was the winner of an Innovation & Technology award at the National Family Business Awards and at the same event, Greg Downey scooped his second Rising Star of the Year award! Added to this, further national recognition came in the form of a finalist nomination for David Hallam in the Business Leader of the Year category at the prestigious Tech Leaders Awards.
All in all, it’s been a very successful year for the company and one which highlights our position as one of the UK & Ireland’s leading suppliers of comprehensive business management software.
This year we have managed to raise money for Save the Children, LIVES, Macmillan Cancer Support, Mind and the Movember foundation. This has been achieved through numerous fundraising events throughout the year including, amongst others, our own pub quiz night, bake off, dress down days and in-house table tennis and chess tournaments!
The result of all this fundraising is a total of over £2,000 being raised for these very worthy causes during 2017! We’re extremely proud of our staff for helping us to raise this total and we look forward to continued charity fundraising in 2018.
So with 2017 having left the company well placed to meet growing demand through even more comprehensive software functionality, even better internal resources and a multi-award winning team of staff, we’re already looking forward to another busy and successful year in 2018!
