On Saturday 25th June, the Saxilby Pavilion played host to the hotly anticipated rematch between our football team here at OrderWise and that of our good friends at Perrys. The fixture has become a regular part of the summer calendar, with the match this year also incorporating a day of family entertainment including a gladiator duel, a giant inflatable assault course and a live comedy show.
On the day around 50 families descended on the Saxilby Pavilion to see OrderWise and Perrys go head-to-head in a fiercely contested game of football. The team at OrderWise were out for revenge having lost (generously let Perrys win!) the last few times the teams faced off against one another. The game was full of high drama, with Perrys taking the lead after a (dubious) penalty decision led to them getting their first goal from the spot.
The game remained close throughout but eventually Perrys were able to fire passed OrderWise goalkeeper Mez Redgrift (a former Employee of the Month winner no less!) to take a two goal cushion. A short time later the final whistle blew and Perrys celebrated having won (been allowed to win again!) the game 2-0 and therefore retaining their trophy for yet another year. Of course we would love to show you exclusive video highlights of the Perrys/OrderWise match but unfortunately, after much deliberation, the BBC decided to cover Euro 2016 instead.
After a break for food, everyone congregated again, this time for a competitive game of rounders. Although this was a much more light-hearted affair after the intensity of the football match, there was still a trophy and, most importantly, company pride at stake. Both sets of players for the rounders had a great time however unfortunately the result ended the same way as the football with Perrys winning the game and also taking home the silverware.
So congratulations to Perrys on picking up both prizes on the day and here’s hoping that maybe next time around, the OrderWise team might be able to win something too!
Of course it wasn’t all about the competition and I think it is safe to say that everyone in attendance had a thoroughly enjoyable day in the sunshine. The event was a great success and we already can’t wait to do it all again next year!
