The New Year here at OrderWise started with another intake of staff, all of whom had to quickly forget about the excesses and relaxation of the Christmas break and jump straight into our intensive training program.
The first 3 weeks of their time was a combination of learning OrderWise in a classroom environment along with regular periods in our warehouse training facility to ensure the real life application was fully understood. Of course, this intensive training was also interspersed with assessments of their knowledge and progress to ensure benchmarks were being achieved.
With a few weeks behind them since the initial training was completed, each new staff member has settled into their departments and started the second stage of training in their respective roles.
This new intake sees a mixture of roles being filled throughout OrderWise with the focus yet again on improving and enhancing the infrastructure and resources available to our customers.
Joining the OrderWise team are:-
Role: Apprentice SoftwareTester
Aaron joins us as the latest valuable OrderWise Testing & Development staff member to kick off a career with OrderWise as an apprentice. Having already cut his teeth with some games testing experience, Aaron will be undergoing a structured apprentice program while completing an NVQ. A keen gamer, Aaron also enjoys reading and laying down some tunes on his guitar, is there no end to his talents? A solo on stage at this summer’s OrderFest may prove otherwise!
Role: Technical Support
Scott has previously worked in the retail sector with plenty of experience of stock control systems including accounts packages such as Sage 50. Scott has also provided both internal and external IT support for PABX system and network installations. As an active member of the 3rd Foot & Mouth Regiment, Scott is involved in WW1, Victorian and Edwardian re-enactments with regular appearances at the Lincoln Castle and is an avid Steampunk enthusiast.
Role: Technical Support
James has been heavily involved with IT and IT support since he began studying at Lincoln College in 2008. Following a successful apprenticeship at an organisation linked to the college providing 1st line support, James returned to education to complete the next level in his IT studies. Lucky for us James crossed our path before he headed too far down the retail path at PC World as he has all the hallmarks of an excellent member of the Support Team. Since discovering the table tennis table in the OrderWise staff room James has a newly found love for the sport, however I am reliably informed his enthusiasm is not matched by his skill.
Role: Reports & Layouts Writer
Ben comes to OrderWise with a wealth of skill and experience brought with him from his 9 years RAF service as an ICT Technician and a further 3 year with Openreach as a customer service engineer. If that wasn’t enough Ben has qualifications in Communications Engineering and is currently studying for a Computer Programming Degree with the Open University. As you may have guessed, in his spare time Ben loves doing anything IT related, playing guitar (I see a guitar dual with Aaron here!), but loves nothing more than spending quality time with the family.
Iain joins the Project Team as a new trainer and although it will be some time yet before he fully completes his own training, his record results on our initial assessments make us confident he will become another fantastic team member. Training is nothing new for Iain having delivered many successful courses on various applications from attendance software to EPOS systems, training staff in hotels to training Student Unions on stock control for their bars and restaurants. Iain is the man everyone wants on their pub quiz team with an extensive knowledge and interest in the Medieval & Tudor period, but there is nothing he enjoys more than spending time with his family and their bonkers dog!
I am sure you will join us all her at OrderWise in welcoming our new staff to the OrderWise Family and wish them the very best in their new roles.
